Some Healthy Things I Do Now

(✿ ͡◕ ᴗ◕)つ━━✫・*。

Hey Heyy~

I hope life has been good to ya! Life’s been good to me, I can’t complain thank God lol.

My bro suggested that I blog about some health changes I’ve made in my life and I was like, das a good idea 💡💡💡 (づ ◕‿◕ )づ

Before I get into that here’s a rundown of my health issues lol:

  • Highly stressed which I think was the root of my issues
  • I had gout, and I think I still do but it’s not as active anymore thank GOD (◕‿◕)♡
  • I have gum disease….. Weh
  • Vitiligo
  • And other things I’m probs forgetting

Things I’ve changed to better my health:

  1. I changed my toothpaste from Sensodyne to a Remineralizing Tooth Powder brooo. It helped with my tooth sensitivity. My gums were hurting and swollen as fuck, I was getting scared bc I don’t have dental insurance and I haven’t had my annual tooth clean so I did this. I also have been using a hydrogen peroxide mouth wash, that shit has helped my gums and my teeth overall

My teeth have been getting a lil whitter too but I’ll report back with an update

  1. I switched from coffee/energy drinks to matcha. Bruhhhhhhh this was the biggest game changer, I am a very anxious person. And it took me a long time to realize that coffee was contributing to that. When I switched to green tea or matcha I noticed a big difference in how my mornings went. I was energized but not in the crackhead way that coffee and especially energy drinks made me feel lol.
  1. Cookin food vs. eating eating out. I’m sure this one ain’t a surprise but this one deadass makes the most difference. There were periods of time when I was eating out odeee and I noticed that I was feeling sluggish and would need a nap after that.

When I would cook I def felt full and didn’t need to nap after. But not all cooking is the same. When you just cook meat and carbs it def makes me feel tired. And I’m still feeling like I need to eat more. When I make veggies and meat I def feel full and satisfied than I do with carbs. I’m not saying carbs are bad but certain foods make me feel groggy.

  1. I‘ve been more conscious about blue light on almost all my devices. My phone, laptop, and PC mainly as they are the ones I use the most. My eyes don’t feel as tired and I’m getting used to seeing my screens orange as hell lol. The Bf and I have been watching videos from this doctor on how much blue light affects you, here is a quick summary of the effects of blue light:
    1. The blue light tells your brain that it is the afternoon so to speak making it harder to sleep
    2. Your sleep quality is worse
    3. It destroys all your melatonin/stops melatonin production
    4. Contributes to mitochondrial issues
    5. Messes with your circadian rhythm
  2. Being out in the sun more. I’ve noticed since I’ve gotten my cute pupper that when I take her out on walks I feel very happy. Here’s a really good article on why you wanna be out in the sun and try to limit the blue light. It’s a long read but it’s worth it!
  3. I also invested in a really good air purifier, it was like 800 dollars. It was this one and it’s on sale now for like 560 lol. No this is not a sponsorship and I’m def not getting money outta this (◕︿◕✿)

Some things I wanna start doing:

  1. Putting more plants around the house so that I can filter out any pollution. Here are some plants, I asked Claude ai for this:

For removing formaldehyde and xylene:

  • Snake Plant (Sansevieria): Very hardy, needs minimal light and water, and is one of the best air purifiers
  • Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum): Easy to grow, effective at removing carbon monoxide and other toxins
  • Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum): Great at removing benzene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde, though needs more attention than snake plants

For filtering benzene and trichloroethylene:

  • Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii): A larger plant that thrives in filtered light and helps reduce air toxins
  • Dracaena varieties: Particularly good at removing benzene, with several varieties to choose from based on your space
  • Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata): Excellent at removing airborne pollutants, though requires regular watering and humidity

For general air quality improvement:

  • Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica): Effective at removing air pollutants and relatively easy to maintain
  • Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema): Tolerates poor light and helps filter various air pollutants
  • Aloe Vera: Besides its medicinal properties, it helps clear formaldehyde and benzene

For more dog-friendly plants (non-toxic for them):

  • Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) – Completely non-toxic and safe
  • Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) – Safe and pet-friendly
  • Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii) – Non-toxic to dogs

Some alternative pet-safe plants that also help with air quality:

  • Calathea (Prayer Plant)
  • Blue Echeveria
  • Haworthia
  • African Violet
  • Parlor Palm
  1. Drink more water…. TO THIS DAY. I’ve been struggling with this for a while since I was a kid and yeah. I just need to be more conscious, listen to my body… and have water by me.
  2. Limiting my screen time when I’m in bed before sleep… I def have a habit of watching vids or playing my mobile game and if I keep it a bean… that ain’t gonna stop lol but Ima try!
  3. Being more consistent in waking up and going to sleep. I’m consistent for a while and then BAM I have 1 night that turns into a routine of waking up dumb late smh.

I’m sure I’m missing more but that’ll do for now. I’ll probs make a part 2 and update yall on it.

We’re not perfect and I’m certainly not, being healthy and making the changes to do so are very hard. All we can do is try tho that’s all lol as best as we can. So I’ll be prayin for us and our progress to become healthier one step at a time.
